It’s Global Running Day! I used to be religious about writing a blog post for Global Running Day. However, I realized last week it has been years since I have written a post for Global Running Day.
When I started writing these posts years ago they were a blogging link-up hosted by Kristen from Jonesin’ for a Run. I loved the format so I am going to use her questions again! So, if you want to see how things have changed over the years check out my posts from 2015 and 2016!
Why do you run?
I started running for weight loss but I soon realized that running was so much more than fitness. Running is therapy for me. Running keeps my head in a good space.
How do you plan to celebrate Global Running Day?
I plan to run a mile. I know it doesn’t sound like much but since I am not activity running it’s big!
How many miles have you run so far this year? Do you have a mileage goal for the year?
7.32 miles… It kills me to even put that number in writing! I am not upset with myself because I would be running if I could! I am upset because I can’t run and I want so badly to run!
What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year?
Well, it’s hard to say. ;o) I have a few things on the calendar I am just on sure if they will happen. I have hopes that I will still get to do a few things. I had planned on running my first full marathon in 2019. I have removed that from my plans.
Before I leave for a run I must have:
A Bondi Band Headband! I am a major sweater! I don’t know how these headbands do it but they keep all the sweat out of my eyes! I LOVE them!
Do you track your runs? If so what do you use?
Who is your favorite running partner?
I like to run by myself. However, I have a lot of really good friends I have made through running. I have started doing more races with friends. I still run them by myself but I meet up with them prior to and if they are willing to wait for me after the race!
What races have you run so far this year?
I have only run two races this year! That number is super low for me. Typically, I would be closer to 10 by now.
If you have to give someone one piece of advice about running, what would it be?
The same piece of advice I have given each time I have done this Global Running Day questionnaire. Get fitted for GOOD RUNNING SHOES! I don’t think you need all the gadgets but being fitted at a running store for running shoes is a must. Good shoes make all the difference!
Describe your relationship with running in one word:
Complicated! This year has been hard. Probably harder than all of my traumatic brain injury recovery. I want so badly to run and actually can run. However, I pay for it after my run with pain that is close to excruciating.
Okay, so now I want to know what you are planning for Global Running Day!
