Did you know that it is Global Running Day on Wednesday? Did you also know that it is National Donut day on Friday? I am going have to celebrate both days! Run on Wednesday and eat donuts on Friday, sounds like an amazing week!
I had such a great time last year answering the question that Kristen over at Jonein’ for a run had put together for National Running Day that I knew I would have to participate again this year for Global Running Day.
So, here we go!
Why do you run? I started running to lose weight. Now, I run because it is my “me time”. It is time for me to think, lose myself, and get to know myself.
How do you plan to celebrate Global Running Day? I am going to run! I am still ramping up my time since graduating from physical therapy so I am going to be running 40 minutes.
How many miles have you run so far this year? Do you have a mileage goal for the year? This year I have run 81 miles so far. While out for a run on February 2nd I slipped and fell and sustained a traumatic brain injury. So that has really impacted my mileage and goals. I had a goal to run 850 miles but I have to re-evaluate that goal but for now I am just running.
What big events do you have on the race calendar so far this year? This year I am going to run the Great River Ragnar Road Relay in August and in October I will be running TC 10 again. I cannot wait for Ragnar! It is on my bucket list and I am so excited to check it off! I also have a bunch of 5K’s planned as well.

2015 TC 10 Mile, I managed to finish 5 minutes faster than planned!
Before I leave for a run I must have: My phone, in case of an emergency, and my Garmin 920XT, you didn’t really run the miles if you didn’t track them with your Garmin! ;o)
Do you track your runs? If so what do you use? I do track my runs! And I use my Garmin 920XT as well as my Fitbit Blaze. I like fitness wearables!
Who is your favorite running partner? Honestly, it is myself. I really enjoy the time by myself. Next to myself, I enjoy running with Baylee. She can’t go for long so she doesn’t get to come with all that often. Mastiffs just weren’t made for running but she is great for cuddling afterwards!

Baylee finishing her first 5K at the Wag, Walk, Run
What races have you run so far this year? I have run the Polar Dash Yeti Challenge, walked the Hot Chocolate 5K, and ran the Maple Grove 5K. I had several other races that I was registered for but due to my TBI I wasn’t able to complete them.
If you have to give someone one piece of advice about running, what would it be? Get fitted for the right running shoe! The right shoe makes all the difference.
Describe your relationship with running in one word: Fulfilling!
Are you planning to celebrate Global Running Day?
What a great interview. Good luck on achieving your running goals.
Thank you! I hope that I can get those goals!
Thanks for linking up again this year! I hope your Ragnar is awesome! I think one day I want to do one as well!
Thank you for hosting! I hope you do do a Ragnar! I am sure would enjoy it!
Oops – I had no idea tomorrow was National Running Day – thanks for the heads up! 🙂 Loved reading your answers … my favorite running partner is me, as well – it’s my time to get outside and get lost in my music or my thoughts … I don’t want to have to worry about matching pace with someone or try keeping up a conversation.
I’m so sorry to hear that you injured yourself with your running – I’m glad you’re better and back in it. Scary, huh?
It was scary! I am with you though, I don’t want to worry about pace, slowing down or speeding up. I will run with others but I really believe it is my me time.
I always say to everyone that the most important thing is that you’re out there and moving. And it’s true!`1
Yes! I agree!
I love your outlook celebrating both Running Day and donut day. I don’t run, but weather permitting, my little one and I will probably get a walk around the neighborhood in.
You have to have balance! ;o)
Donut Day on Friday???!!!! That is a day I will be celebrating too now thanks to you!
I’m so glad you’re healing so well–TBIs can not be messed with as you know. Thanks for coming by my site 😀
I know! I am looking forward to Donut Day! I am recovering well and am happy I can run again!
Ragnar…I am SOOO jealous! I’d LOVE to do a Ragnar someday! I love your line au above, that says running is your way to find yourself. Isn’t that the truth! I have realized a lot of truths about myself while pondering “stuff” in my running shoes 😉
Yes! I came up with my blog name “Getting Fit to Find Myself” while in my running shoes.
Too bad donut day isn’t first! Otherwise you could eat the donuts and then run off the calories!
I thought the same thing! But I am running on Friday so I just run to the donut shop!
I hope you take care of yourself while trying to reach your goals, take it slow if need be, brain injury is serious!
Yes, a TBI is very serious but I can assure you that my medical team has released me and is aware of all my activities.
I love running by myself too. Such a great way to clear your head for the day ahead or even after a busy day. I always have so many thoughts going on up there and running kind of helps organize them, lol.
Yes, that is why I love running by myself also!
