I got married! But I think most of you already knew that! I have been holding off posting about it until we got our wedding pictures.
On August 26, 2016 I married my best friend and partner of 11 plus years. Justin and I met on Friday the 13th in May of 2005 (I consider it my lucky day). We were introduced by mutual friend when he was visiting a friend in Fargo, ND. There was instantly an attraction between us but neither was looking for a relationship. We exchanged numbers and talked for several weeks before I we made the decision that I would visit him in the Twin Cities. I recall being so nervous to spend the weekend with him. However, I knew almost instantly he would be my life partner.
We have approached the whole relationship thing based on what works for us, not others. Justin and I decided in July 2006 that it was either time for me to move to the Twin Cities or break off the relationship. So on Thanksgiving day 2006 I moved to in with him. The funny part about that, is that it is also the day my parents met him for the first time. Good news, both of my parents liked him instantly. In fact, sometimes I wonder if Justin and my dad like each other more than they like me.
Justin and I took our time to figure out what worked best for us. We were in no hurry to get engaged or get married. We were happy just the way we were. Then one random early Wednesday morning at the end of September in 2014 Justin asked me to help him get ready for a golf tournament. He asked if I could get him a new pair of socks out of the bottom drawer of the dresser. I went to the dresser felt around (I did not turn the lights on) and couldn’t find the socks. When I told him they were not there and he proceeded to say he was sure they were there and that I should check again. I finally turned the light on and looked. In the middle of the drawer was a ring box! I had no idea he was planning to propose!
Again, we took our time figuring out what we wanted for our wedding. We both knew a traditional wedding was not in the cards for us. After several venue visits we were at a loss, nothing felt right. Following one particular boring visit we found ourselves at Canterbury Park, the place where we had our first date, to watch some horse racing. After about an hour there, I looked at Justin and said we should get married there. He thought I was joking. I wasn’t, Canterbury had meaning to us and I couldn’t think of a more appropriate place to get married for us!
I can’t say I enjoyed much, if any, of the planning of the wedding. However, since we were not doing your traditional wedding it was pretty easy. As the day got closer, I got more excited! It may have helped that I had most everything done so as it got closer I didn’t have to worry about anything! And when the day arrived it could not have been any more perfect!
So, I have been patiently waiting to share with you the photos from the day! Here are a few of my favorites!

The start of the day!

That birdcage and I didn’t get along very well!

One of my favorite pictures of the day! My good friend Rachel and my sister in law Hilary helping me get ready.

I don’t do serious well! ;o)

Just before the first look.

I love our smiles!

My favorite of Justin and I!

Getting up on that table was a chore but it made for a great picture!

Another favorite!

The two other important guys in my life, my dad and brother!

My rock, my mom!

I love that I got to take pictures on the race track! Again, I don’t do serious well….

A Boser family tradition, homemade alcohol… And yes, it tastes horrible but it’s a must!

When your photographer is your friend and is friends with your guests, you find this gem in your photos!

Happily Ever After!
Here we are 11 years later and our love continues to grow. And I am so excited that I got married to my best friend!
What is your favorite part of your wedding day? Did you enjoy the day? Would you do anything over?
Congratulations! This looks like a perfect celebration and way to honor your relationship! I’m planning my wedding now, and we have some of the same things in common – not wanting to follow traditions just because!
Congrats to you! Enjoy the process (do as I say not as I do) because it does go by very quickly! I couldn’t be happier that we did what was right for us and not what everyone else thought we should do.
Congrats to you and Justin! Fun to see pictures of your wedding – looks like it was a perfect day!
Hey Steph! Thank you so much! It was the perfect day!
