Every month on the last Friday of the month, Marcia of Marcia’s Healthy Slice hosts a link up called Runfessions. I have been reading Runfessions for a while but have never participated. After my shake up this week, I realized that Runfessions would be a great outlet for me when it comes to my concerns and frustration with running!
Runfession 1: This week I realized I had been running for all the wrong reasons. The realization turned my world upside down!
Runfession 2 & 3: (2) I run really slow! I mean really really slow! And because of that, (3) I hate running with other people. However, starting next week I am going to join a local running group because I think it will help me find the joy I used to have when I would run. I am getting bored with my routes and always being by myself, I feel like if I have others around it will be social and not such a chore.
Runfession 4: Realizing I had been running for all the wrong reasons was one of the best things that could have happened to me. Now that I am not focusing on racing and just focusing on running for the enjoyment I had one of the best runs I have had is months! Tonight I ran and I enjoyed it, I mean really enjoyed it. It wasn’t a chore, I didn’t dread putting my shoe on and getting out the door.
Runfession 5: I ran the Polar Dash Yeti Challenge on January 1 but cannot bring myself to write the recap. I loved the 10K but I didn’t care for the rest of the challenge. I can’t decide it I should just write it or let myself off the hook since it has been a month already.
Runfession 6: I have a goal of running 850 miles in 2016. When I created that goal I thought it would be very easy to hit it, now I am thinking I may not get there. I am still going to shoot for it but only time will tell…
Do you have any runfessions you want to runfess?
