I will be getting up in six and a half hours to compete in the YWCA Women’s Triathlon! Tomorrow at around 8:10am I will be participating in my first triathlon! I am excited and nervous all rolled into one!
It is hard to believe that this time tomorrow I will be a triathlete! Or at least I hope I am! The weather is not looking great, there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms. However, I am going to have a glass half full attitude about it.
In order to calm my nerves the first thing I did this morning was created triathlon packing checklist. I am a checklist kind of person but especially in situations like this. I knew I would feel better if I had something to go off of, this way I would have a smaller chance of forgetting a must have item!
Tonight, I laid out “Flat Tri Missy” to make sure I had everything, checking items off my list as I laid out every item. I was surprised at how overwhelming it was to see everything laid out in front of me.
After taking a picture of “Flat Tri Missy” I realized that I was missing my helmet and gloves in the picture. As soon as I realized this I put my helmet in my vehicle so I wouldn’t forget it tomorrow! I also had Justin double check my checklist! You can’t be too careful!
I am feeling like I am as ready as can be. I am feel very confident about the biking and running portion of the triathlon. I am concerned about the swim portion but I know I can get through it. I have thought about what I would like my goal time to be and I am thinking I will finish in about 2:15 so I am gong to shoot for a goal of 2:10 just so I push myself a little bit. But honestly it will be a win in my book as long as I just finish!
I can’t wait to tell you about how it went!
