I have needed a night full of fun for a while! And two Fridays ago I finally got a night full of fun! My friend Megan and I actually had a afternoon and night full of fun!
Megan has been so helpful through this really difficult time I have been experiencing. She has been helping keep my spirits up and even more so helped me get back on track with wanting to run & be active as well as resume eating healthy. It has been so helpful to have her support!
We started out our afternoon with pedicures at The Ivy Spa. It was nice and relaxing! I cannot say it was the best pedicure but my toes did look nice when they were done!
After our pedicures, we head to Life Time Fitness at the Target Center in Minneapolis for Ignite the Night. Ignite the Night, was a glow themed community festival featuring yoga, entertainment, and fun.
We started our evening with body painting. Megan went first and it was really fun to watch the artist paint her designs. Then it was my turn, as the artist was painting my face I remembered I forgot to put my contacts in after out pedicures. Yoga and glasses are not exactly conducive to each other, then add in the black lights, strobe lights, and the dizziness I had been experiencing. At that point, I knew the even was going to be even more interesting than I had planned.
After our body painting, we went in to the gym to set up our mats. There were A LOT of people but we were able to find two very good spots near the exit. Good because, it was cooler but also because if I ended up having any issues I could easily get myself out of the situation. Then we found ourselves some glow in the dark bracelets and I found a blinking light ring.
Soon it was time for the main event to start, yoga with glow in the dark paint and a black light… It is important to remember that this was my third time ever doing yoga. It was your typical yoga moves with the added glow in the dark paint and black light. There were two different instructor one was your typical instructor and the other was meant to teach black light yoga! I managed to do a good 85% of the poses that we were asked to do. I can say I did experience some dizziness while doing several poses but I am pretty sure it wasn’t the yoga poses it was the strobe lights. All and all it was a really fun experience! And I am looking forward to doing it again!
After the yoga part was over Life Time did have drinks and appetizers but Megan and I opted to head out. We found a Jimmy John’s not far from the gym. I have to say we got a few weird looks but I can only imagine how funny we looked with glow in the dark paint walking around Downtown Minneapolis.
I so needed a night full of fun! Megan did a wonderful job of making sure that happened! We had great conversation and a lot of laughs. I am registered for Soul Pose in August and I cannot wait! It think the black light yoga bug bit me.
Have you tried this new trend of yoga with black lights and glow in the dark body paint?
