On Friday, I planned on leaving work at 3pm so I could pick up my packet for the Everybody’s Irish 5K. The packet pick up was in the opposite direction of where I live so I knew I needed to leave early or I would be stuck in Friday afternoon traffic.
Three o’clock came and went, and next thing I know I am still sitting at my desk at 5:50pm. Packet pickup was going to end at 7pm and I wasn’t sure how traffic would be. I finished up what I was working on and got my stuff together to go, and then I couldn’t find my keys. I completely emptied my backpack, I went through my desk, nothing! That sent me into a panic, because either I left my keys in my vehicle or I dropped them on my way to work. If they were in my vehicle I was worried my vehicle would be gone since the parking ramp can be a little shady.
I nearly ran to the parking ramp, then had to wait forever for the elevator (probably really wasn’t forever but it felt like it). When I got to the right floor, I almost didn’t want to get out of the elevator because I was worried I wouldn’t see my vehicle. I just about cried when I saw my car! Now the issue was where my keys were… They were in my the vehicle! I have no idea how it locked because they were still in the ignition (it isn’t supposed to lock if the keys are in the ignition). However, I didn’t care because at least they weren’t lost and I have an app on my phone to unlock my vehicle.
Okay, one problem resolved next problem was that I had 45 minutes to make it to packet pick up. At this time I am thinking I can make that work. That is until I read the exits signs wrong and ended up heading south on I35W instead of north. And then I stuck on the interstate not moving. I finally got to the first exit to turn around 20 minutes later. Long story short, I made it to packet pick up with only seconds to spare.
After getting my packet, my evening turned around. The packet pick up was at Sports Authority and when I walked in I received a coupon for 15% off my total purchase. It got me to thinking, “I am playing softball this summer I should pick up all the stuff I need!”
So I picked out my softball glove, my batting gloves, and my cleats! Oh, and a softball! I am really looking forward to playing softball. I have no idea how it will go, whether I will be good or bad, but what I do know is that it will be fun to do something outside my comfort zone.
I actually got the race entry from Groupon so I wasn’t expecting a lot. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The race was really well organized! My only issue was that people didn’t line up at the start in an organized order. I totally get St. Patrick’s Day races are a lot of fun and they bring out a lot of novices. I want people to have fun! However, if you are going to walk don’t line up in the front. I have no problem with people walking, just be considerate of the others behind you. Other than that, which happens at a lot of different races, it was a great race! I can already say, I will probably run it again next year.
We had lunch and had time to spare before he had to leave for the airport. We had lunch nearMaple Grove Cycling and I had gotten a call from them earlier in the week letting me know my new bike was in and ready. Yes, you read that right! I got a new bike and I am in love!
When I went in to pick her up I knew that I would have to get everything that goes with biking. I had to get a helmet, shoes, pedals, tire pump, tools to change the tire, an all in one tool, a pack to carry my tools and more in, water bottles, water bottle cages, and bike capris. I have a few more things to pick up, but I am more than on my way.
I recapped Sunday in a previous post so I won’t go into detail. However, I was able to cross a lot off my to-do list and spend time with Baylee outside. It was a great way to end to a great weekend!
How was your weekend? What made it fun for you?
