During lunch today, I was perusing Instagram as I so often do. I saw on IG Stories the wonderful ladies of the Fit Approach were sharing the history of Sweat Pink Community and asked members to share what the community means to them. I started to think about it and realized that in order to share why I love the Sweat Pink Community I’d need an entire blog post! An Instagram Story just wouldn’t do it justice!
So if you don’t know who or what the Sweat Pink Community is here’s the important details! And because I can’t say it any better or more concise than Fit Approach I am sharing their definition! “Sweat Pink is an inclusive, uplifting, and supportive community that comes together around a shared passion for active living and community building.” Sounds pretty cool right? It is! Which is why I love being part of this amazing community.
I was introduced to the Sweat Pink Community in 2014 through several bloggers I followed. Me being me, I research the heck out of Sweat Pink. I had to know more about this so-called community. And sure enough, I found this really cool community I HAD to be part of! So, in 2015 I applied to be a Sweat Pink Ambassador. I actually squealed when I got the email telling me that I was a Sweat Pink Ambassador! I was so excited! H
Why Do I Love the Sweat Pink Community?
I’ll go back to Fit Approach’s definition – “Sweat Pink is an inclusive, uplifting, and supportive community that comes together around a shared passion for active living and community building.” And it really is all of those things! I don’t know if I have ever been part of another community that is all of those things.
This is a community that embraces you for who you are. Everyone is valued for their differences! In fact, that is what makes the Sweat Pink Community so amazing! If you need help, advice, or encouragement you will find it in this community! And what is so refreshing is that every one of the community members brings a different skill set and approach to the group. Yet, you never see anyone negating someone or their advice it is different than someone else’s! It’s the only Facebook group (just so you know it is way more than a Facebook group but that is the
The Sweat Pink Community is full of relationships! For me the two best relationships I have from Sweat Pink are the friendships I have made and the support system I have gained.
If you were to tell me when I graduated from high school in 1999 that some of my closest friends were going to be people I met from a “virtual” community, I would have told you that you were crazy. Yet, here I am today and that is my truth. I do have a couple of really close friend from high school, college, and a few other places. But a large majority of people I have close connections with are people I have met because of Sweat Pink!
For example, I look forward to Blogfest every year because I get to see those connections in real life! Those two days are the best two days of my year because I laugh hard and experience more in that time then the entire rest of the year! I have created relationships with people from the Sweat Pink Community that will far outlast the conference or any Facebook group!
Obviously, with friendships often comes support systems. But the Sweat Pink Community support system is unlike any other support system you will encounter (or at least in my humble opinion). Some of these people I have met and some I hope I get to meet in real life. Yet, all of them are who I turn to when I have a question, problem, or need encouragement.
When I was recovering from my traumatic brain injury the Sweat Pink Community was my number two resource for support (the traumatic brain injury clinic at HCMC being number one)! I went to this group when I needed encouragement or when I had a fitness or technique question. Some days, I would just read what people had posted because it allowed me to still feel connected to the fitness community that I felt so disconnected from.
Why is the Sweat Pink Community So Awesome?
The Sweat Pink Community wouldn’t be a thing if it wasn’t for founders Alyse and Jamie’s need to build something awesome! I am 100% positive that the Sweat Pink Community is so welcoming and inclusive because that is exactly how Jamie and Alyse are. Sweat Pink is part of Fit Approach which is a business and we all know how much work it is to run a business. Yet, just like all of the other community members Alyse and Jamie are out there supporting each of us! It’s pretty easy to be a great community when you have great leaders!
I could keep going on and on and on… However, I am pretty sure you get that I have a whole lotta love for the Sweat Pink Community. I found my people when I became a Sweat Pink Ambassador! And if you want to find your people you should consider joining the Sweat Pink Community!
